Welcome
Shalom! This is an exciting time for the Huntsville Jewish community as we prepare for our second year of our Religious School program. The name of the school is “NACHaS”, North Alabama Community Hebraic School. NACHas is a cooperative effort between Etz Chayim Synagogue and Temple B'nai Sholom to provide religious education to Jewish youth in the area. It is an independent entity of the Temple and Synagogue, yet leverages off the resources of both and is made up of faculty, administrators, and board members from both. It is funded by tuition as well as stipends and donations from the Synagogue and Temple as well as the Jewish Federation of North Alabama.
We look forward to having your children with us for the school year and are dedicated to providing a meaningful and educational Judaic program for the North Alabama community.
“And you shall teach them diligently unto thy children” is written in the Torah. Parents and teachers form a crucial partnership in completing this mitzvah. Our fine teachers work very hard to provide a fun, challenging and interesting experience for your child. We use many means to help forge a positive and educated Jewish identity. Our classes incorporate drama, art, music, games, films, books, stories, and special guests.
We are very privileged to use a curriculum that was created by the Education Department of the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life out of Jackson, Mississippi. This manual explains the school goals and curriculum as designed with input from the ISJL, Rabbi, and teachers.
We rely upon your support, constructive feedback and participation. Jewish Education is a family goal, and we are here to help you achieve that goal.
Classes will be held at Temple B’nai Sholom (103 Lincoln Street, Huntsville, AL 35801, 256.536-4771) from 10:00-12:00 on Sundays.
